Application Progress of Diatomite in Environmental Engineering

Reviewed the research progress and raised some existing problems of diatomite in the treatment of environmental pollution on wastewater, exhaust gas and soil. Diatomite has excellent physical and chemical properties, unique surface structure and good adsorption performance. After modification, it can be adapted to various needs. Numerous studies showed that modified diatomite good adsorption or degradation effect on heavy metals, inorganic and organic pollutants in wastewater or exhaust gas. However, most of the researches are in the laboratory level. And most of them are single-factor and single-pollution factor experimental study, and there are less research on the effect of multi-factor and multi-pollution factor. Therefore their results need to be verified by practical applications.
