MATRIX MODIFICATION IN GRAPHITE FURNACE ATOMIC ABSORPTION SPECTROMETRY

Matrix modification in graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry including the application of inorganic and organic matrix modifiers, carbide coating technique and introduction of hydrogen and oxygen into purge gas was reviewed. The atomization mechanism and interference machanism in the presence of matrix modifiers was also discussed. The application of matrix modification for the determination of trace elements in a variety of samples was tabulated together with brief comments.
