INVESTIGATION ON CATALYTIC REDUCTION OF NO WITH CO OVER THE TRANSITION METAL CATALYSTS

CO-NO and CO-O2 reactions over a series of transition metal catalysts have been studied. It was found that the activity of CO-O2 reaction was higher than that of CO-NO reaction. The dissociation of NO on catalysts to from Na and Oa was the rate determing step of CO-NO reaction. The catalyst forms N2O during NO reduction at lower temperature, whereas N2 formation dominates at higher temperature. It was found that the catalytic activity was proportionally relected to the enthalpies of the metal-oxygen bonds.
