Study on decolourization of reactive red X-3B by immobilized photosynthetic bacteria adding chitosan during immobilization process

The effects of photosynthetic bacteria immobilized by sodium alginate on declourization of reactive red X-3B under different conditions were studied.The chitosan were added during the immobilization process.Results show that X-3B was degraded well under anaerobic condition.Degradation of X-3B was first order kinetics when initial X-3B concentration ranged from 30 to 300 mg/L.The correlation between specific decoloriazation rate and initial concentration of X-3B can be interpreted by Michaelis-Menten model.The Michaelis constant K_m=374.96 mg/L and the maximum specific decolorization rate V_(max)=7.53 mg/L·h.Shaking incubation could accelerate the dedcolorization rate and shorten the half-time.Beads could be reused after decoloring.
