The development process and status quo of monitoring water quality using remote sensing techniques was reviewed. The main topics discussed are principles of monitoring water quality using remote sensing techniques, generally used remote sensing techniques in this terms, methods applied to develop algorithms and several examples of assessing water quality using remote sensing techniques.
