The Imperial Examinations and Literature

The Imperial Examinations influenced the feudal literature in many aspects, the prosperity of poems in the Tang Dynasty and lyrics in the Song Dynasty, the rise of Eight-part Essay and the Discourse on Politics were all closely related to the Imperial Examinations; the contents, themes and style of notes, scripts for story-telling, dramas and legends were all deeply influenced by the Imperial Examinations. The Imperial Examinations also became closely attached to the scholarly officials, because most of them have very strong complex about Keju.
