Precipitation Chemistry and Trends of Rainwater Acidification at the Low Latitude and Subtropics of China

A monitoring network of acid deposition has been established at the low latittide and subtropics in China where acid deposition research was blank in the worid.A two years’monitoring has been conducted with this network.The data showed a clear seasonal variations of aciditv and total ion concentrations of rainwater.There is a higher, Ca ̄(2+) and percentage in the ion composi-tion of rainwater. The cation sum was slightly higher than anion sum. The precipitation acidity in Guangdong and Guangxi provinces was the combined action of cations and anions. The regions with high sulfur dioxide emission tend to have higher concentrations in the rainwater. The only solu-tion to acid rain is to reduce the emission of sulfur dioxide.
