Study on the photodegradation of Dyes in Aqueous Solution over a Ag-loaded TiO_2 Catalyst

Photodegradation of dyes in aqueous solution wasinvestigated by irradiating with a 300 watts highpressure mercury lamp and using silver loaded titanium as a catalyst. The results show that theAg loaded TiO2 had a higher catalytic activitythan a pure TiO2. An aqueous solution containing50 mg/L of dye could be decoloured over a Agloaded TiO2 catalyst with a 40- 60 min irradiation, which was 15-40 min less than that in thecase of using a pure TiO2 as a catalyst. The effects of tempreture,pH, photo-intensity andquantity of catalyst agent were also investigated.
