Study on the Interference Patterns in the 4-Amino Antipyrine Photometric Determination of Volatile Phenols in Wastewater

he interference patterns with different mineral oils (crude oil, machine oil and diesel oil), aniline, some metal ions and CIO--, etc. in the 4. AAP photometric determination of volatile phenols were studied. The recovery of phenols in thepresence of different amounts of nit..f.rsn.. substances was determined spearately Then, the to-tal recovery equation Y was established. The trueconcentration CT of volatile phenols in wastewaterwas determined with the value CD found by 4AAP method and the equation Y. The resultfrom standard addition experiment with mixed interference substances shows that its relative errorto 'the calculated value by theequation Y is below5 %. The determined result of wastewater sampleis coincident with the results determined by thederivative photometric method. This method canbe used'f.or the determination of volatile phenolsin oiLfield wastewater.
