Enhanced Rates of Photocatalytic Behavior Using WO3/TiO2 CoupledSemiconductor Nanopowder

WO3/TiO2 Coupled nanopowder was prepared by solgel process.Being a model reaction,the photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue in TiO2 and WO3/TiO2 nanopowder suspension irradiated by high pressure mercury lamp was investigated.As a results,the addition of WO3 to TiO2 greatly enhanced its photocatalytic behavior,and the optimum concentration of WO3 on TiO2 was 2%(molar fraction)and the photocatalytic activity was enhanced with a rise of the calcination temperature.The results showed the Langmuir kinetics constants of WO3/TiO2 was 001036 mmol/(Lmin)-1.UVvis absorption spectra and Ion Chromatography analyses showed that WO3/TiO2 made methylene blue more easily mineralized,compared with TiO2.
