A study on the chromium species in chromium-rich yeast by ̄(51)Cr radioactive tracer

Yan Lingna; Meng Min; Qian Qinfang(Institute of High Energy Physics, Academia Sinica, Beijing 100080)
The chromium-rich yeast, as a trace element tonic with a supplementary curative effect on the diabetic and cardiovascular diseases, has been prepared in this work. The chromium species in the yeast was studied by using 51Cr tracer to elucidate the pharmacodynamics of the Cr-rich yeast. Chromium in the yeast partly exists in an organic species-glucose tolerance factor(GTF). The GTF with high activity can assist insulin to play a certain role in maintaining normal glucose tolerance.
