Nitrates Pollution of the Vegetables in Hangzhou and Its Control

Hu Qinhai Ye Zaojie Ma Shengliang (Dept. of Environmental Protection, Zhejiang Agricultural University)  
Nitrates and nitrites contents of the main vegetables (including seven types and fourteen species) in Hangzhou vegetable production regions during: 1989—1990 have been investigated. The investigated result shows that the average content range of nitrates in various type vegetables is 136-1847 ppm, the nitrates content sequence of the vegetables is following, green leaf vegetablesChinese cabbage vegetablesroot vegetableslegumineou vegetableswild cabbage vegetableseggplant-fruit vegetablesmelon vegetables; the average content range of nitrites is 0.09-3.78ppm. According to some environmental standards, the hygienic assessment for vegetable nitrate content in Hangzhou has been made, the source and the accumulation rule of nitrates in vegetables have been analysed, then a countermeasure for the control of the nitrates pollution has been provided.
