Study on properties of crosslinked chitosan polymers for adsorbing metal ions

Water soluble crosslinked chitosan polymers were prepared by epichlorohydrin. lts adsorption properties for Cd2+. Cr3+. Cu2+. Hg2+. Ni2+. Pb2+and Zn2+ were studied and its mechanism was discussed. The experimental results showed that this crosslinked chitosan kept its rigidity in acidic solution. Its adsorption efficiency is fine when pH is 7~8.
