Pollution characteristics of atmospheric particulates in spring Beijing

Pollution characteristics of atmospheric particulates in spring Beijing was studied by analyzing the air aerosol sample monitored in the urban Beijing from March 14,2008 to May 8,2008.The concentration of total suspended particulates(TSP) and inhalable particulates were analyzed,and Scanning Electronic Microscopy(SEM) was employed to character the micro-morphology of the TSP and PM10.The results showed that PM10 accounted for more than 65% of TSP,and PM2.5 and PM1.0 contributed 84.2% and 67.4% of total PM10.The SEM images showed that the atmospheric particulates were existed in regular shape and irregular shape.Many farina particles were also found in samples.Some heavy metals were detected in the atmospheric particulates by EDX,the concentration of Pb was higher and easily adsorbed on fine particles.
