Analysis on the sources and characteristics of chemical composition of precipitation in Hangzhou

Base on the precipitation data of 2006 to 2008 in Hangzhou,the origin and chemical characteristics of the precipitation were analyzed and compared with other districts at home and abroad.The results showed that monthly rainfall in Hangzhou had no much difference with the average monthly rainfall ranged 7.1-25.3 mm;the pH of precipitation ranged from 3.99 to 5.64 and volume weighted average pH was 4.50;the electrical conductivity ranged from 1.30-8.55 mS/m and the weighted average value was 3.73 mS/m.Precipitation electrical conductivity was negatively related to rainfall and pH.The rainwater in summer was characterized by high concentrations of ions and low pH,while the rainwater in other seasons presented opposite characteristics.The type of precipitation in Hangzhou was sulphurie rain for the SO2-4/NO-3 ratio was 2.87,but the proportion of NO-3 in precipitation increasing year by year.The ratio of total cation equivalent concentration to total anion equivalent concentration was 1.11,which was lower than that of other cities in China.NH+4 and Ca2+ were the predominant ions which could neutralize the acidity of rainwater.The ratio of(NH+4+Ca2+)/(SO2-4+NO-3) in rainwater of Hangzhou was 0.89,the value was lower than other foreign cities.The ions in rainwater were well correlated with each other,but the correlation between precipitation acidity and ions was not significant.The chemical compositions of precipitation in Hangzhou mainly came from terrestrial sources,factory emissions,fuel wood burning and marine sources.
