Performance and mechanism studies of adsorption molybdenum(MoO_4~(2-))from waste water by ulothrix

The adsorption behavior of molybdenum(MoO2-4)from waste water by ulothrix was studied by experiment.Five factors including pH,adsorption time,temperature,dosage and competitive anions were investigated.In addition,the adsorption mechanism was researched by the method of adsorption isotherm and kinetic model.The results showed that the removal efficiency of molybdenum from waste water containing low concentration molybdenum attached 82% and the Equilibrium Adsorption Quantity(EAQ)was 0.657 0 mg/g,with pH 1,adsorption time 40 min,dosage 1.0g,and 30℃.PO3-4competed strongly with MoO2-4in adsorption system and the EAQ fell to 0.380 0mg/g and SiO4-4competed with MoO2-4at a relatively low level,but SO2-4 played a synergy effect with MoO2-4.The Langmuir adsorption isotherm model and the pseudo second-order rate equation could fit the experimental data very well.The correlation coefficients of 20,25 ℃ were all more than 0.99.It was concluded that adsorption molybdenum onto ulothrix was chemical adsorption and was controlled by chemical reaction rate.The conclusion showed that the ulothrix could be applied in adsorption molybdenum from waste water in practice.
