A METHOD FOR DETERMINATION OF STRAND SEPARATION RATE OF DNA IN ALKALI AND ITS USE INDNA DAMAGE STUDY

A method for determination of strand separation rate of mammalian cell DNA in alkali medium was investigated and used to study the single-strand break of DNA in cultured Chinese hamster lung (CHL) cells and mouse splenocytes induced by 60Co y-ray. It was shown that the percentage of labelled 3H-DNA remained double strand after 30 min alkali treatment was inversely proportional to the radiation dose within the range of 1-10 Gy.
