USING MICROECOSYSTEM TO ACCESS THE BIOACTIVITY OF HEAVY METALS IN SEDIMENTS

Organism exposure test in a micro-ecosystem with long term is a necessary way to assess bioactivity of heavy metals in sediments. This paper discussed the feasibility of this kind of test. The results showed that long term bioassay with micro-ecosystem is a good and successful method to predict the bioactivity of heavy metals in sediments. The growth and reproduction of test organisms indicated the toxicity of heavy metals in sediments, and the bio-accumulation of test organisms reflected the bio-availability of heavy metals in sediments.
