DOA Estimation via Iterated QR Decomposition

A Direction of Arrival(DOA)estimation algorithm based on iterative QR decomposition is proposed in this paper.Conventional subspace based algorithms for DOA evaluation estimate the DOA parameters by tracking either the signal subspace or noise subspace of the covariance matrix of the received signal.This approach needs huge volumes of computation,and is hence also very expensive with ASIC implementation.In this paper,the iterative QR decomposition is employed to perform the eigenvalue decomposition(EVD)to obtain the noise subspace of the covariance matrix.It significantly reduces the hardware resource in ASIC implementation.Simulation results indicate that a 0.23mrad estimation accuracy is achieved at a 10dB SNR,and so this approach is effective and reliable.
