A Study on Sound Intensity Measurement of a Turbo-Jet Engine during Test-bed Testing

Based on the practices of sound intensity measurement of a turbe - jet engine during test - bed testing, a study mainly on the technique and the practising aPproach of the acoustic measurement of engines at conventional test-bed testing were focussed on. Some indexes such as the validity and ermrs of the measured data were examined according to the international standard ISO 9614-I, and the sound power levels radiated from the side sur faces of the engine casing were estimated. Furthermore, upon the identification of noise sources, the sound levels and the characteristics of the main noise sources of the engine were discussed. A comprehensive analysis shows that the metheds of the sound intensity measure ment of the turbo-jet engine at conventional test-bed testing are practicable and the mea sured data are vaild. The work presented in this paper provides the experiences for improv ing the measurement and study of engine noise at conventional engine test.
