ANALYSIS OF SOME OCEANOGRAPHIC CHARACTERISTICS OF THE TROPICAL WESTERN PACIFIC WARM POOL

This paper deals with the analysis of main oceanographic characteristics of the tropical Western Pacific Warm Pool based on data on SST, temperature, and salinity along Sections 137°E and 155°E. The results showed that the shape of the warm pool (surface area,thickness,and northern,eastern and southern boundary locations) ,the highest temperature, and the salinity have obvious seasonal and interannual variations related to El Nino events.
