IDENTIFICATION OF ACOUSTIC EMISSION SIGNALS PRODUCED BY FATIGUE CRACK INITIATION IN WING SPARS OF AIRCRAFT

Geng Rongsheng, Jing Peng, Lei Hong (P.O.Box Beijing 9203\|16,Beijing,100076) Li Wei, Shao Jin (Beijing Yan Shan Petrochemical Corp.,Beijing,102549)
An attempt has been made to use acoustic emission (AE) to monitor the initiation and growth of fatigue cracks of aircraft under fullsize fatigue test.Multi\|parameter identification and correlation techniques are proposed to distinguish between genuine (crack\|related) AE signals and background noises. The initiation of a fatigue crack of less than 0.5mm was predicted in time.
