The Nonlinear Analysis of Liquid Slug Length Fluctuation in Horizontal Pipe

The fluctuation characteristics of liquid slug length was investigated on the basis of fractional theory of air/water slug flow in the horizontal pipe with a large range of gas and liquid velocities.The results indicate that the distribution of liquid slug lengths can be well fitted by log-normal distribution,and the fluctuation of liquid slug lengths is characterized with chaotic vibration which are sensitively dependent on initial conditions.Meantime,the fluctuations with permanence properties’ obey fractional statistics. By carrying out an analysis about the fluctuations of liquid slug lengths at two superficial liquid velocities,the chaotic degree and the sensitivity to initial conditions of the fluctuations will have extremums while superficial mixture velocity U m=11 m/s.
