Pollution characteristics of metal elements in PM_1 during heating period in Harbin

In order to investigate the characteristics and sources of atmospheric particulate pollution during heating period,the size distribution and the mass concentration of metals in PM_1 and PM_(2. 5)were sampled and analyzed. The results showed that the mass concentrations of As,Ba,Cr,Cu,Zn,Mn,Ni,Pb,Sr and Ti were found to be from 0. 018 to 0. 8 μg·m~(-3),and Ni was not detected in December. The mass concentrations of Al,Ca,Fe,K,Mg and Na ranged from 0. 478 to 17. 470 μg·m~(-3),in particular,the concentrations of Na and Ca were 17. 470 and 12. 271 μg·m-3,respectively. The characteristics of the size distribution showed that the metal elements accounted for 56%~ 97% of total mass of PM_1,which indicated that the metal elements were mainly enriched in ultrafine particles. The weights of Pb and Zn in PM_1 is higher than other heavy metals,mainly due to the increase of motor vehicles on the road during heating period,which led to Pb and Zn increase from oil combustion.
