Preliminary Study on Genetic Polymorphism of Transferrin in Chinese Miniature Horses

WANG Zhen-shan, LI Jian-cheng, GUO Yong-xin (Equine Blood Typing Research Laboratory, College of Animal Science and Technology, China Agricultural University, Beijing 100094, China)
Transferrin polymorphism in Chinese miniature horses was analyzed by means of a polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis.Five phenotypes, namely F 2F 2, DF 2, F 2H 2, F 2O and F 2R, were found in the transferrin locus, which was controlled by 5 alleles. Gene frequencies were 0.0312, 0.7188, 0.0625, 0.0312 and 0.1563 for Tf D, Tf F2 , Tf H2 , Tf O and Tf R ,respectively. The gene heterozygosity(H),the probability of discrimination power (Dp)and the probability of exclution (PE) on this locus were 0.4530,0.6875 and 0.2586, respectively.
