Study on effect of icariin on the immune function in mice

To research the effect of icariin on the immune function in mice,100 six-week-old SPF-class healthy Kunming mice were randomly divided into two groups and fed with icariin and normal saline solution.At 0,1st,4th,7th,10th,13th,16th and 19th days,the white and red blood cell counts were measured and the hemoglobin was determined through blood sampling,and the ANAE+ T lymphocytes were detected by using blood smear,and the histological changes of spleen,thymus and lymph node were observed.The results show that icariin could increase the quantity of white and red blood cells,and improve the concentration of hemoglobin and the ratio of ANAE+ T lymphocytes in blood,but there was no change in the effect of icariin on the structure of the immune tissue.The results indicate that icariin has specific regulatory role on immune function,but the improvement of its function doesn't depend on the basis of the structural changes in immune tissue.
