Effects of different stem treatments on promoting early flowering and fruiting of Cornus wilsoniana

By means of girdling with bark wrapper up-down,binding stem with stranded wire,binding stem with rope and stem girth cutting four methods,main trunks and boughs of 3-year-old grafted saplings of Cornus wilsoniana were treated separately to find out the optimum method for enhancing early blooming and fruiting.It turned out that there were no significant differences in the trunk diameter and crown growth among different treatments.Compared with other treating methods,that binding trunk and bough with stranded wire had significant effect on height growth and plant flowering.And the number of flowering saplings and the flower number in each sapling were much higher than those in other treatments.However,there was no significant difference in promoting flowering between binding trunk and binding bough with stranded wire.
