Tree biomass of evergreen broad-leaf forest in mid-subtropical region of China at three succession stages

Tree biomass of evergreen broad-leaf forests in mid-subtropical region of Hunan Huitong at three succession stages were investigated including Masson pine(Pinus massoniana)forest(PF),Masson pine and broad-leaf mixed forest(MF)and evergreen broad-leaf forest(BF).The results showed that,tree biomass of BF was 292.51 t/hm~2,followed by MF(206.87 t/hm~2),PF(171.76 t/hm~2).Biomass of various organs showed the trend as stemrootbranchleafskin.With the succession,the proportion of the stem accounted for the tree biomass reduced,and the proportion of the root had increased.Tree biomass was mainly concentrated in the trees with DBH more than 20 cm.
