Dynamic performance simulation of concrete-filled steel tubular column under high rate loads

To study the mechanical properties of concrete filled steel tube column(CFST)under high rate loads,the damage plastic model and elastic-plastic model with the consideration of the strain rate effects are employed to simulate the behavior of CFST under high rate loads and the results are compared to experiment results.Simulation results show that the developed dynamic damage plastic model and elastic-plastic model can simulate the nonlinear behavior of CFST under both high rate loads and pseudo-static with acceptable accuracy.Moreover,the developed damage plastic model and elastic-plastic model is also used to study the effects of axial load ratios on the nonlinear behavior of CFST under different load rates,width to thickness ratio and strength of the concrete in the steel tube.It is found that,with the increase of load rates,width to thickness ratio and strength of the concrete in the steel tube,the bearing capacity of the same components also increased.
