Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of ozonide for maternal perineal incision disinfection. Methods 134 puerperal women with transvaginal delivery receing lateral perineotomy were randomly divided into two groups: observation group ( n =66) with perineal incision disinfection of ozonide, control group ( n =68) with disinfection of active iodine. The healing of the perineal incision was observed and the bacterial culture for perineal skin secretion carried out. Results The healing rate of grade A, B and C in maternal perineal incision of observation group was 95.5 %, 3.0 % and 1.5 % respectively, while that in the control group was 91.2 %, 7.3 % and 1.5 % respectively ( P 0.05). There was no significant difference in colony counting. Conclusion The efficacy of ozonide for maternal perineal incision disinfection to prevent infection was the same as that of active iodine.
