Study on Methods for Assessing Performance of Power Batteries Used in Pure Electric Vehicle

Based on the analysis of the discharge characteristics of power batteries used in pure electric vehicle,this paper pointed out the shortage of using the constant current discharge method to assess the performance of the batteries,because the results could not represent the real using performance of the batteries.According to Economic Commission for Europe(ECE) cycle,the discharge current value of a pure electric vehicle,EVERY,was calculated,which had the same trend as the experimental results.The discharge characteristics of power batteries can basically represent their using performance.So,it is more effective to use the inconstant current discharge method according to ECE cycle to assess the performance of power batteries rather than the constant current method.
