Study on Rare Earth Codoping Nanometer TiO_2/MWCNT Multiplex Photocatalyst

The Gd3+/Eu2+ codoped nanometer TiO2/MWCNT(multi-walled carbon nanotube) multiplex photocatalysts were prepared in sol-gel and hydrothermal methods respectively.The Scanning Electron Microscope(SEM),Transmission Electron Microscopy(TEM) and Photoluminescence(PL) spectrometer were carried out to characterize their property.Their photocatalysis activity was evaluated through the photodegradation of methyl orange in an aqueous solution.The experiment results have shown that nano-TiO2 particles distribute evenly along MWCNT in samples prepared in the hydrothermal method.Meanwhile,its photocatalysis activity is higher than that prepared in the sol-gel method.Codoping proper proportioning Eu2+/Gd3+ can increase the photocatalysis activity of multiplex photocatalyst, and the optimal dopant content for Gd3+,Eu2+ is 0.1% and 1.0% respectively.
