Soil Fertility Properties of Paddyfield Developed by Different Parent Materials in Red Soil Hilly Region

Baodongyu catchment,a typical region of red soil hilly region,was selected as the research site.The research explored the soil fertility status of paddyfield developed by different parent materials in comparative method,and studied the soil fertility level in universal assessment method(INDEX model). The result has showed that soil nutrient content developed by quaternary red earth is relatively higher than that by purple sandshale alluvium and red sandstone alluvial soil.The total nutrient index and effective nutrient index have the same feature.The universal assessment value has shown that the fertility index of paddyfield soil developed by purple sandshale alluvium is only 0.028 521,which is much lower than that of paddyfield soil developed by quaternary red earth,whose index is only 0.109 969.
