A Flexible Method for Image Noise Removal

In this paper, a simple and flexible implementation of the adaptive median filters for noise removal in image is proposed. In our algorithm, the impulse pixels are first detected and then the window size of the median filter adapts itself with it. Our simulations demonstrate that these filters have better performance in the removal of impulses from highly corrupted image and in preserving fine details.
