DETERMINATION OF MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF STEEL CORD-RUBBER COMPOSITES BY MOIRE METHOD

AccuratC deterdrination of mechanical properties of cord-rubbercoplnosites is a key to successful finite element analysis of tires. Deterrnination ofthese properties from strains direCtly measured by the Moire technique is moreappropriate. In ibis Work in-plane extffoional meChanical properties of single-plysteel cord-rubber composites with different volumes of fractions of cord have been detennined by Moire method. Corresponding values from Halpin-Tsai and sallarequations are compared With experimental data. The results obtained by Moire methodrepresed meChanical properties of sauce material of steel cord -rubber composites. Inaddition, the meChanical properties of the steel cord- rubber composites were not affected by the samPle size as samples with different ratios of length to Width were used inthe measurement for comparison.
