THERMODYNAMIC ANALYSIS OF THE STABILITY OF REVERSE MICELLES SYSTEM

Reverse micelles are thermodynamically stable,nanometer-sized,spheroidal aggregates formed by certain surfactants in an apolar organic media.This paper gives a phenomenological analysis of the stability of reverse micelles system through four effects of the low interface tension,dilution,dispersion entropy and bending moment.By minimizing the Helmholtz free energy change during the formation of reverse micelles,a correlation equation between the radius of a reverse micelles water tank and the physical parameters of system is obtained.The analysis of the correlation equation shows that the radius of reverse micelles water tank displays a rising tendency with the increase in the concentration of surfactant which is in agreement with the experimental law published in references.
