STUDY ON PROPERTIES OF SUBCONCENTRATED SOLUTION OF CHITOSAN

The properties of subconcentrated solution of chitosan are studied by using acetic acid aqueous solution as solvent. The results show that the zero shear viscosity η 0 of the solution decreases with the increase of acetic acid content and temperature, the decrease of chitosan content and the prolonging of the storage time, that flow activation energy (Δ E η) and structural viscosity index (Δη) increase with the increase of chitosan content and the decrease of acetic acid content,that the addition of NaCl to the solution leads to the increase of viscosity, but the addition of urea leads to the contrary, and that the stability of the solution decreases with the prolonging of the storage time, but was not influenced clearly by adding NaCl or urea.
