STUDIES ON THE SUITABLE CULTURAL PERIOD OF HYBRID RICE IN CHANGSHA AREA I.THE PRODUCTION AND DISTRIBUTION OF DRY MATTER OF RICE PLANT IN DIFFERENT CULTURAL STAGE

Experiments of hybrid combinations of Wei-you No. 35, San-you No. 6,Wei-you No.6. were planted in 10-12 different times to determine the relationsof temperature changes and production and distribution of dry matter in riceplant in different cultural stage were conducted in Changsha area in 1982-1983. The results were as followws: The growing season of rice plant in Changsha has its high temperature fromMay 20 to August 20 (the mean temperature of a ten day period is 25.3-30.7℃, the NAR and the wight of dry matter of single plant of rice are higher inseedling stages showing a positive correlation with the seasonal change of thetemperature. The situation is similar in the tiller stage. The green leave area of single plant, the LAI, the photosynthetic potential-ity, the dry matter of single plant, and the ratio of the weight of dry matterbetween leaf sheath and leaf blade are declining in the panicle formation periodand flowering and seedbearing period. In short, the high temperature period favours the seedling stage of hybridrice, but unfavours the production and distribution of dry matter in its mid-late stage in the paddy fields. From August 20th on, the production and distribution of dry matter inhybrid rice of mid-late stage growing in paddy field shows some improvementsdue to the improvement of the comprehensive ecological conditions in the lateseason.
