A PRELIMINARY STUDY ON SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED CULTIVATION OF COTTON Ⅱ. THE INTERRELATION BEATWEEN DRY WEIGHT OF ROOTS AND BIOLOGICAL PRODUCT AND UNGINNED COTTON YIELD

This study consists of five factors and five levels of each factor. It was de signed with square and regressive rotation method. Through statistic analysis of electronic computer, tbe mathematical models between the final dry weight of roots and total biological product, between final dry weight of roots and unginned cotton yield, and between the total biological product and unginned cotton yield, have been built up. The result indicates that the dry weight of roots and unginned cotton yield (r=0.7606), the dry weight of roots and the dry weight of the ae rial parts (r=0.6107), the dry weight of the aerial parts and unginned cotton yield (r=0.8211), are in significant positive correlation. The effect of roots on unginned cotton yield is via their effect on the aerial parts(P_(12.y)=0.3473**YP_(21.y)=0.2524*). To get 250—275kg unginned cotton by 3000 plants per mu in the fertile soil of Changsha area the final dry weight of roots should be about 50kg/mu, and the biological product about 700~750kg/mu.
