Combining Ability Analysis of Yield and Growth Period in Three-line Indica Hybrid Rice

4 sterile lines proved in recent years in Hunan were crossed with 5 three-line indica restorer lines by NC-Ⅱ mating design in the study.The objective of this study was to determine combining ability(GCA and SCA) of grain yield and whole growth period,and yield heterosis of 20 rice populations.Analysis showed that: (1) both general combining ability(GCA)and specific combining ability(SCA)were significant at the level of 5% or 1%,which were commonly dominated by additive variation and non-additive variation;(2) GCA and SCA were greater for SanxiangA in sterile line and R416 in restoring lines;(3) effects of GCA and SCA were not significantly related to each other;(4) comprehensive evaluation indicated Sanxiangyou 516,fengyuanA/238 and fengyuanA/502 had higher utilization value in production among 20 rice combinations.
