Analysis of Land Use Pattern and Changes under Different Terrain Conditions——A Case Study of Liling

The spatial pattern and temporal and spatial variation of land use under different terrain conditions in Liling were analized by using technoloty of remote sensing and geographical information system (RS and GIS) to analyze landform-division, altitude-zone and slope-classification respectively and overlay analysis of them based on the database that investigated from remote sensing image, land-use map, topographic map, geomorphologic map, DEM data and other materials from field measurements. The results showed the patterns and changes of land-use were significantly affected by hill area landform in central-south of China. The dominant land-use types in low elevation and slope gently area was paddy field and construction land; the major characters of land use changes were expressed in decreasing paddy field and increasing construction land. In higher elevation and steeper hilly area, the dominant land use types were dry land and woodland; the major characters of land use changes were expressed in decreasing dry land and increasing woodland.
