The Couple Effect of Water and Phosphorus on Maize Growth and Development in Main Growing Stage

The couple effect of water and phosphorus on dry matter accumulation in elongation stage and maturity stage of summer maize,total phosphorus in soil,and water use efficiency was studied under the pot experiment conditions, and water was controlled using weighing method in whole maize growth season.Results showed that both water and phosphorus,especially for water factor,had important actions on maize growth and development.In the same supply of phosphorus,there were obvious differences among different water supply that relative higher dry matter accumulation was found when water was well-supplied.Moreover,in the same water supply conditions,phosphorus application could also promote dry matter accumulation into maize organs and could decrease ratios of top boot,which may make for absorption and transfer of nutrient elements.In addition,phosphorus application could increase water use efficiency of summer maize to carry out the aim of water-saving and yield-increasing and to achieve the effect of utilizing water by fertilizer.
