On The Emergence of and Request by the Ghost in One's Dream in Ancient Literary Works

Gao ZimeiDept. of Chinese Language and Literature Nanyang teachers' College Nanyang 473061China
The stories about dream and request caused by soul are extremely common in ancient Chinese literature. The fantastic stories cater to readers' curiosity. The reason of the dream is to bring the unrealized love during the lifetime to an end. Love is the reaction of human natural instincts to outside world. With the development of civilization love is used by feudal thinkers as a tool to control human emotion thus leading to many injustices. In this social background writers by means of the emergence of and request by the ghost in one's dream sing the praise of true love and fight against the feudal moral principles.
