The Influence on Concrete Strength and Durability of Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag

The effect of ground granulated blast furnace slag(GGBS) on strength, shrinkage, carbonation and impermeability of C30 grade of Concrete, which is most widely used in construction is studied. The results show that the concrete with 180mm±20mm slump, 43.8~50.7MPa strength, high cohesiveness and high durability can be prepared by adding 30~60% GGBS with 425m2/kg specific surface. Togather with adding GGBS and 10~15% fly-ash the concrete durability will be increased further at the same level of strength, owing to the super-synergistic effect.
