EFFECTS OF WATER STRESS AND VA MYCORRHIZAL FUNGI ON THE GROWTH OF MUNGBEAN

The effects of VA mycorrhizal fiungi Glomus mosseae, G. sp. and G. caledonium on the vegetative growth and metabolism of mungbean were studied in pot culture under water stress. The results showed that water stress seriously repressed plant growth, but didn't have a great influence on the infection of VA mycorrhizal fungi.The uptake of plant for P and N could be enhanced and plants water status improved, proline content decreased, photosynthesis efficiency of leaves significancly increased, plant dry weight promoted, and the drought resistance of mungbean plant promoted by inoculating the VA mycorrhizal fungi. Among three fungi, Glomus mosseae had the best inoculation effect.
