Effects of ethanol on femoral head of cocks sensitized by horse serum

Aim:To observe the effects of ethanol on the femoral head of cock sensitized by horse serum.Methods:A total of 64 healthy adult cocks were randomly divided into 4 groups.Group A was horse serum combined with alcohol treated group,through intravenous,were injected 10 mL/(kg·d) horse serum two times at two weeks intervals,and were given 10 mL/(kg·d) strong wine by pouring into stomach since two weeks after the last time horse serum were injected. Group B was simple alcohol treated group,were given 10 mL/(kg·d) strong wine,since the same time with Group A. Group C was simple horse serum treated group,were injected horse serum at the same time with Group A. Group D was no wine or horse serum treated as control.All animals were respectively killed at the end of the forth and eighth week since the first pouring into the stomach,the liver and femoral head were respectively obtained to observe the pathological changes and calculate related index.Results:In histopathological examination after 8 week in Group A,fatty vacuole in the hepatocytes was observed and that was marked in the central region of the hepatic lobuli. The hematopoietic tissue in the femoral head marrow decreased and the fatty tissue increased,fatty cells in the head increased and enlarged were observed. At 4 weeks,the percentage of empty osteocyte lacunae was increased in group A and there were significant differences compared with group B,C,and D (P0.05). At 8 weeks,the trabeculace became thinner and sparse or break,and the area fraction reduced in group A and there were significant differences compared with group B,C,and D. The empty osteocyte lacunae was obviously increased in group A(P0.01). There were no obviously pathological changes in the other 3 groups.Conclusion:Cocks could be used to make animal model of ethanol-induced ONFH,and the cycle time of making model is shortened when animal sensitized by the horse serum.
