Diagnosis and treatment of the diabetes with secondary scrotal gangrene

Objective To explore the causes,the diagnosis and the treatment of scrotal gangrene secondarily complicated in diabetes. Methods Retrospective analysis of seven cases of the diabetes who secondarily occurred scrotal gangrene and were treated in our hospital and reviewed relative literature.Results Five of seven patients were recovered fully after undergoing multiple incisions and wide debridement and other measures, whereas the other two cases died of this disease for shock and renal disfunction or multi-organ failure. Conclusion The keys of survival primarily consist of well-recognized etiology and its evolution, early-stage diagnosis, wide debridement timely and administration of broad-spectrum antibiotics and control of blood sugar.
