A Comparative Study on the Emotional State of Patients with Primary Hypertension in the Patterns of Liver Yang Hyperactivity and Liver-Kidney Yin Deficiency

Objective To explore the emotional characteristics of patients with primary hypertension in the patterns of Liver Yang hyperactiviy (LYH) and Liver-Kidney Yin deficiency(LKYD). Methods All the cases were selected based on the combined principles of disease diagnosis and pattern differentiation and the emotional state was evaluated by the use of Ganzangxiang Emotions Rating Scale(GERS).Results The accumulating scores of all indexes for GERS were significantly higher in the group of patients with hyportension than that of healthy controls (P0.01).When compared between the different patterns, the scores of Ganjing dimension, anxiety dimension and depression dimension were obviously higher among the cases with the pattern of Liver Yang hyperactivity than those with Liver-Kidney Yin deficiency(P0.01).Conclusions Among the cases with diffenent patterns,those with one of Liver Yang hyperactivity will show more obvious degrees of anxiety and depression than those with one of Liver-Kidney Yin deficiency, especially with very obvious character of anxiety emotion.
