Debate on Righteousness and Profit and Dong Zhongshu's Unredressed Injustice

In the Chinese ideological history, the debate on righteousness and profit has undergone a process of transformation from the concrete to the abstract and again back to the concrete. This process is the reflection of the cognitive rules of negation of negation in the view of righteousness and profit. Dong Zhognshu's view of righteousness and profit is that both righteousness and profit are essential but righteousness is more important than profit. The well-known view of making one's words and deeds conform to justice and seeking no personal gain is not Dong Zhongshu's original idea, but it was wrongly given by Ban Gu, the author of History of the Han Dynasty, which is verified by Chun Qiu Fan Lu. Therefore, this question should be clarified. The correct view of righteousness and profit is that we should stress profit and should not take righteousness lightly, that we should think about righteousness when we see profit and take rigorousness as profit, and that we should not care for nothing but profit and forget righteousness when we see profit.
