The effects of light intensities on survival rate and growth of Betula luminifera seedlings

s:Light is a main factor which affects survival rate, fitness and growth of Betula luminifera. In this paper, the effects of light factor on survival rate, fitness and growth of Betula luminifera seedling were studied. Four different light intensities100%, 80%, 60% and 40% of light intensity. The results are as follows: There were significant effects of light intensity on survival rate and fitness of seedling. Survival rate and fitness of seedling increased with increasing of light intensity.The death peak of Betula luminifera appeared after 11-60 days of sowing (from 11th june to 30th july) in the condition of 100% light intensity, and death rate was 84.5%, and fitness was 0.0358. The death peak of the two treatments of 40% and 60% light intensity appeared at the same time, but the time of death peak was later than 100% light intensity.The death rate of the two treatments were 71.1% and 62.0% respectively, and the fitness were 0.1329 and 0.1740 respectively?The death peak was not obvious by treating with 80% light intensity, and the seedling had been died in all growth season, death rate and fitness were 62.8% and 0.1700, respectivly.
